“What’s the best way for us to work together?”
Our friends at Alt Marketing School created a Work With Me Guide you can customise in Canva so clients/collaborators know exactly how you roll (briefs, deadlines, tool stack, comms and expectations) for smoother work, better boundaries, and zero unnecessary drama.
"I've discovered that if I don't define things, it opens up a lot of possibilities. So it could be anything."
Listen now:
Chavi Pande is a marketing generalist and designer who practices "emergent design" across everything she does. She's worked in marketing across big companies, startups, and agencies, and now works with "collaborators" instead of clients, helping interesting people and businesses solve problems. She's a voracious reader, product design enthusiast, and active member of Generalist World who hosts workshops and co-founded the Async Career Portfolio Lab. She's known for saying yes to things and exploring everything rather than optimising for one path.
📚 What You'll Learn
Emergence as a design philosophy that extends far beyond products into process, work, and decision-making
Why team culture and people matter infinitely more than company prestige or job titles
How generalists build careers by staying curious, saying yes, and creating community
✍️ Some Takeaways
Stop tracking metrics; follow energy and joy instead. Chavi ditched all productivity apps because tracking was exhausting. She realised she already knew what gave her energy without measuring it.
Choose collaborators over job titles. By focusing on interesting people doing interesting things rather than prestigious organisations, she opened up possibilities that formal job hunting never would have.
Not defining things gives you more options. Staying vague about roles, clients, and outcomes creates flexibility. Design becomes a generous word that works with anything.
Community is a safe testing ground for experiments. Generalist World let Chavi practice hosting, launching initiatives, and sharing weird interests without fear of failure.
