3 big career shifts coming in 2025
+ how you can turn your range into revenue

Helloooo 👋
I’m Milly, and I spend 8.5+hrs every week studying work trends & data (yes, I'm obsessed)
Here's 3 big career shifts that are coming in 2025.
1/ hybrid titles
They no longer have a Head of Growth, or a VP of Product. Now everyone is part of a team — like Ops, or GTM — and that’s it. People focused on outcomes.
"We need every member of the team to step in wherever they’re needed most. So we got rid of the rigid ladders"
Prediction? We're a way off all companies adopting this (especially large ones).
But the underlying shift is important: rigid, slow org's HAVE to change to stay alive. Hybrid roles like the XIR role will become enormous
2/ hybrid professionals
Sahil from Gumroad calls this "from specialisation to integration"
From Specialization to Integration
This reflects deep changes in how we build and deliver digital products. Where we once sought specialists who excelled in clearly defined domains, we're now increasingly valuing hybrid roles that blur traditional boundaries.

2015: strict silos
designers just design
engineers just code
marketers just market
2025: hybrid roles that blend skills
brand designers: design + biz strategy + user psychology
design engineers: frontend code + design
growth marketers: marketing + data + coding
“AI ops” is being spoken about more in the GW community as an emerging role
3/ hybrid teams (3-part stack)
Raphael at A.Team figured this out early.
lean full-time core
fractional specialists
This is also how I've built Generalist World.
We have a core team of super generalists, and we bring in fractional specialists for special projects.
Even X, the moonshot factory (formerly Google X) uses this model. Former exec AJ said they 'de-risked it because we had access to this top talent without putting a full-time job count there'
In summary:
pick 1-2 areas to go deep in (you need some spikes of expertise)
build your reputation as someone who figures ANYTHING out
get really good at working with both specialists and AI tools
use your broad knowledge to spot unique connections others miss
bonus… 🎁 ASK! It amazes me how many people (myself included for many years) miss this step. Looking for a job? Need an intro? Ask a trusted peer if people if they know 1-2 people you should speak to. This is how you grow your network. This is how you access & create opportunity. Not by waiting, but by asking.
Join our free upcoming Range to Revenue workshop on Wednesday 29th or February 4th to learn how to leverage these shifts!
